When the trans-Alaska pipeline was built in the 1970's, workers turned primarily to one brand of jacket to protect them as they worked, Carhartt. The J131 Thermal Lined Duck Active Jacket was Invented in 1975 and is still Carhartt's best-selling jacket. The shell of these jackets is made from firm, heavy weight 100% ring spun cotton duck canvas that is both water repellent and wind resistant. The lining is a poly thermal mesh that will keep your body temperature well-regulated and not be too restrictive for movement. The jacket is a little stiff at first but becomes softer with age.
